In one of the weirdest responses to a demand for justice, President Trump sent out a tweet on Monday, demanding that Black NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace apologize to his higher-ups at NASCAR and even went as far as calling the noose found in his garage a “hoax.”

Wallace responded in a tweet, which ultimately says that he isn’t apologizing for anything.

Lebron James and fellow NASCAR driver Tyler Reddick supported Wallace’s message to the POTUS, with Reddick stating, “We did what was right and we will do just fine without your support.”

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany addressed Trump’s sentiments at a press conference on Monday, giving an explanation as to why Wallace should apologize.

“The FBI, as I noted, concluded that this was not a hate crime and he believes it’d go a long way if Bubba came out and acknowledged that as well. This was not a hate crime, as noted by the FBI.”

When the noose was discovered in Wallace’s garage back in May, it was not mentioned that the only rope fashioned as a noose that was used to open the bay doors was found in Wallace’s garage.
