With so many distraught over the tragic news of the passing of NBA star Kobe Bryant, the NBA officially postponed tonight’s cross-city rivalry between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center.

“The decision was made out of respect for the Lakers organization, which is deeply grieving the tragic loss of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other people in a helicopter crash on Sunday,” said the NBA statement.

It’s being reported that many of the Lakers players, staff, and employees who knew Bryant personally are too shaken up by the loss to work.

Also, before UCONN Huskies Women’s basketball game against Team USA Monday night, the team honored Kobe’s daughter GiGi, who also died in the helicopter crash, with a bouquet of flowers and a number “2” jersey on the Huskies bench.
