The NBA promptly shut down on March 11 after the COVID-19 pandemic had begun to spread across the United States. Since that date fans questioned when, if at all, the NBA season would return. According to new reports, The NBA season is looking to start back up on July 31.

The Athletic is reporting that the NBA Board of Governors will vote on NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s plan to return to NBA action on Thursday. All the plans have not yet been revealed, mainly the format in which to finish the season. On the other hand, it does appear that the league has nailed down a location, Disney World in Florida, where games will take place for the rest of the season.

ESPN’s Adam Wojnarowski is reporting that 20-22 teams will be invited to Orlando to resume the season. This most likely means the teams with a legitimate playoff opportunity and teams that are already a lock for the postseason will play in the continued season.

The season will likely last into the fall when the 2020-2021 season usually starts, but several past reports have said that the NBA is looking to push next season from the normal October start date to a Christmas Day start date.
