TheSource.com profiles BK graf king Stem of the YNN Crew
stem1
After the final buffing of the NYC transt system in 85-86, there were very few artists who continued to paint conceptual pieces on the streets. Most artists either took it to the freight trains or just started a tagging frenzy, which took away from the artistry. Stem is one of the artists from the second generation that has maintained the legitimacy of aerosol art, drawing animated masterpieces that can be found on walls, trucks, and trains all over the country. Whether it be a Polo draped Tomahawk Indian or a Transformer themed YNN crew piece, the Lo-Life crew affiliate is definitely among the leaders of today’s active writers in NYC. Stem continues to showcase his art in other forms such as gallery viewings and custom design clothing.
