MLS ready to announce new expansion team in New York
Sheikh Mansour is a member of the Abu Dahbi royal family and is currently the owner of the English Premier League team Manchester City. Sheikh Mansour is also the front runner in to being the newest owner of an MLS expansion team, New York F.C.
If you have followed football/soccer you will know that Sheikh Mansour has no problem spending money for players so the $100 million expansion fee and $340 million stadium fee may not be too steep for him. New York F.C. would be set to play in Flushing, Queens in their own new stadium. The plans for the Queens stadium are expected to be finalized soon while the announcement of the new team is also expected to be made around the time that Manchester City takes on Chelsea at Yankee Stadium this summer.
New York F.C.’s first year in the MLS would either be 2016 or 2017.
