Former St. John’s University Basketball Star Lee Green Dead at 49 From Coronavirus

NYC is the epicenter of the Coronavirus pandemic in the United States and the Big Apple has been rocked again with the sudden death of former St. John’s b-ball star Lee Green, the latest victim in the sports world of the novel coronavirus. He was 49 years old.

His close friend and former teammate Lamont Middleton broke the news of his death to the media. The Bronx native attended Tolentine High School before heading to St. John’s from 1991 to 1994, where the team reached two NCAA Tournament appearances.

Green went on to become a police officer in Brooklyn as well as a DJ who went by the name “El Dorado.”

Green wasn’t believed to have any pre-existing medical issues. He contracted the virus at an event he was working as a DJ.

The deadly virus has hit the entire country hard, but New York in particular, with over 20,000 cases of the virus and 157 deaths that have been attributed to the novel coronavirus.
