After a heated week of pre-fight confrontations, fans were expecting a special fight from Danny Garcia (26-0, 16 KO) vs. Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO).And the fighters delivered, not necessarily a classic, but both fought well, had drama, blood and displayed a lot of heart and skill for the entire 12 rounds.
During the early rounds, Garcia steadily pulled ahead outboxing Judah. In the 5th and 6th rounds Judah was in trouble as Garcia began teeing off on Judah’s face, racking up points. Although Judah showed a lot of heart and his iron chin took some hits, he was floored in the 8th round (for the 10th time in his career) with a hard right hand from Garcia. Judah responded to the knockdown by coming strong and winning the 10th, 11th and 12th rounds, but that wasn’t enough to triumph over the undefeated Garcia.
Official scores were 114-112, 115-112, and 116-111. And still WBA Junior Welterweight champion of the world, Garcia wins by way of decision.
