Lauryn Hill Reveals the Reason Behind Tax Evasion

After Lauryn Hill came off of that long hiatus, Uncle Sam was at her door.


The rapper/singer avoided paying taxes between 2005-2007. She pled guilty to tax evasion charges and is currently facing several years in prison. She filed legal documents explaining why she’s avoided paying her taxes.
According to the document, Hill stopped paying taxes “when she withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family.”
She asked the courts to lessen her punishment to probation.
A judge is expected to rule on April 22nd.
